The island of Ireland possesses extraordinary beauty and diversity in its geological heritage and has played a crucial role in the history of geology itself. In this talk, based on his book of the same title, Dr Patrick Roycroft will showcase this heritage with a special emphasis on Northern Ireland. In addition, there will be a demonstration of how everyone, young and old, can see for themselves spectacularly colourful zoning patterns in the common mineral muscovite mica.
