Unclean water is an ongoing problem in the third world. Students will learn of the parasitic and bacterial diseases and the resulting mortality due to lack of access to clean water. The problems of conventional methods in water purification in the third world will be explored and the possible development and utilisation of natural water filters including Xylem and activated charcoal.
These methods will model the elimination of 25nm and above sized Amoeba and Bacteria as possible practical solution to water purification.
At the end there will be an evaluation of practical results looking at such factors as percentage organism removal, filtration Rate and the amount of water that can be filtered.
